The BFG

Roald Dahl is probably the most famous author in the world. He wrote books like Charlie and the Chocolat Factory and James and the Giant Peach. One of my favourite books is The BFG. It’s about a little girl called Sophie who gets taken from her bed in the orphanage by a big friendly giant, or BFG, and together they defeat the nine man eating giants. I just love the way the BFG talkes and that is why he’s my favourite. This is a great book for people who love something a bit strange and funny.

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Harry Potter is an eleven year old boy who lives with the Dursleys. He is also a wizard. When I first started reading this book I fell in love with it right away. It has everything a good book needs. It’s about a boy called Harry Potter who, on his eleventh birthday, finds out that he’s a wizard. He goes to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, makes friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Together they have lots of awsome adventures. This book is probably a great book for everyone, but I think people who are into adventure stories would like it the most.

Journey to The River Sea

Do you like cliffhangers and mysteries, because I do and this book is filled with them. From secret plans to strange people, Journey to the River Sea has it all. It’s entertaining, interesting and it has great detail so you feel like you are actually there. It’s about an orphan girl called Maia who goes to the amazon rainforest to live with her relatives, the Carters. But instead of the loving family she had imagined she finds Mr and Mrs Carter and there wreched children Beatrice and Gwidolyne. My favourite character is probably Finn, for no particular reason, I just like him. I think my favourite part in the story is when Maia first sees the place where Finn lives. I reccomend this book to readers who like stories with interesting characters.

Tom’s Midnight Garden

Tom’s Midnight Garden is a great book because it is very diffrent from other books. Most fantasy books are about a hero or heroine that goes on an adventure to stop an evil king or something like that. But this book is about a little boy called Tom who has to leave his home for a few weeks because his brother was sick. He thinks it will be boring to go to his aunt and uncle’s shabby old appartment, but one night when the clock strikes thirteen, yes thirteen, Tom goes down to investigate. What he finds will change his time there forever. Hatty, one of the only people who can see Tom when he enters the garden, is probably my favourite character because I just like her personality. This book is great for people who like a bit of mysterie.

Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables my absolout favourite book. I guess me and Anne just have a lot in common. Both of us are chatty and curious, and we both love the outdoors. Well, anyway, it’s about an orhan girl who is adopted by Mattew and Marilla Cuthburt by accident and does lots of fun things. My favourite character is, obviously, Anne since me and her are so alike, and in so many ways. I think my favourite part was when Anne got the Avery schoolership. If you like interesting characters then this is the book for you.

The Phantom Tollboth

The Phantom Tollboth is a very imaginative book. It’s about a boy called Milo who gets a suprise gift and when he opens it he finds a tollboth. When he goes through it he finds himself in a strange land where he meets new friends and has thrilling adventures. It has everything: adventure, fun, and really awsome characters. I think my favourite character has to be the Humbug because he is super funny. My favourite part in the story is when Milo, the Humbug and the two princesses Rhyme and Reason fly away from the demons on Tock. This would be a great book for people who like something a bit different.

The Book of Three

The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander is a fun and adventurous book. It’s about a boy called Taran who dreams of being a hero. But when he finally gets what he wants, Taran realizes what being a hero is really about. When I read it I felt like I was right there, watching it all happen. I loved it because the author really made it exciting , and at the same time made sure you can connect with the characters whether they are feeling nervous, happy or even confused. I think this book would be great for people who like fantasy and magic. I think my absolut favourite character is Eilonwy, partly because she was the only girl of the group, but also because she is really chatty and energetic, which is just the type of person I like. To me, the best part was the battle betwen Taran and The Horned King at the end of the book.

Introducing me: why am I writing this blog?

My name is Anaia and I am 8 years old, almost 9. I’ve always loved reading, but it was my mom who had the idea to make this blog. I think it’s fun to write book reports and tell people what I think. That’s why I’ve decided to tell you about some of my favourite books and why I love them. Another reason I’ve decided to write this is because quarantine is boring and I needed something to do.
